Every year I get excited when the Christmas markets come to Manchester and every year they get bigger and better. I usually manage a good few visits in order to get my fill of all my favourite foods and plenty of Gluwein! This past weekend my old muckers and I got together for a festive afternoon at The Spiced Pear in Hepworth. This is a lovely 1940’s inspired tearoom and restaurant tucked away in the West Yorkshire hills. An independent family business, The Spiced Pear prides itself on using local produce from regional producers. The tearoom serves up delicious lunches and brunches and a generously delicious looking afternoon tea. There is even a gentleman’s version that includes Yorkshire pudding and pork pie. It’s that most wonderful time of the year again and time as always is against me! In November we can all slightly relax a bit, enjoy the fireworks and feel ever so smug if we’ve bought a couple of Christmas presents already. Then December descends and the panic and mayhem sets in! Don’t get me wrong I love Christmas as much as the next person, (although not as much as the Christmas carol playing, santa hat wearing, Muppets Christmas Carol watching, Christmas obsessed Mr Tearoom), but trying to get parked at the Trafford Centre in December does tend to test my Christmas spirit a smidgen. Bah Humbug!
On the upside I like to shop and I love picking out the right gifts for family and friends. Continue reading
